The state of Arizona has enacted legislation so that non-lawyers can offer limited legal services directly to the public completed by a Certified Legal Document Preparer (or CLDP). A CLDP performs an essential role in providing affordable legal services, including assistance and guidance throughout the administration of the case.

The void between those who can pay for quality legal services and those who feel that they must proceed without is evident. It is clear that the need for affordable access to the court system must be reachable to a wider portion of the public.  The Arizona Supreme Court has created this specialized field to better serve those who cannot afford the high cost of an attorney, but are still in need of the legal knowledge and services that non-lawyers can offer.
